Boula Xiong died on September 11, 2019, when his breathing tubes were pulled. Boula had been in the hospital for over a week after a blood vessel had burst inside his brain on September 2nd. Boula had been on vacation at the time of the event and was only 41 years old. I, Damon Schneider, was there to witness Boula’s breathing tubes being pulled and I was forever changed by what I witnessed. Boula was one of the most kind human beings that you would ever meet and he was my best friend, very much like a brother to me. Boula’s headstone was not placed until the following June, in 2020. For many months I dreamed of what it would be like to finally visit it. During those many months I became terrified of the fact that, being only 42 years old at the time, I might very well forget my friend in the future. Indeed, photo albums are often lost while moving, fires occur now and again, and hard drives fail often. It was then, on the date of April 23, 2020, during the middle of the Covid-19 Lockdown that I envisioned linking all of Boula’s most important memories and photographs to his actual head stone via a QR code. Even though Boula died at a young age, he lived a life that mattered and all of this is because of the life he led. Thus began our wonderful new business whose aim is to make memories immortal: Seasons of Life!
